Talented artists from around the Kingdom have been exhibiting their work at Diriyah’s Industrial Zone – the first step to creating a dedicated site for contemporary culture and thriving art scene in Saudi Arabia in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
The works of Saudi artist "Kalakh" in the district’s factory area have particularly caught people’s attention.
Kalakh is a creative artist from a small village south of Taif who has quickly become famous around the Kingdom. His artworks in Diriyah’s Industrial Zone are often depictions of the faces of women and famous artists and singers, including Muhammad Abdo, Talal Maddah, Safia bin Zager and Asala Nasri.
His village donated a 300-meter wall so he could express his creativity and decorate the main roads with his paintings.
In 2019, the Ministry of Culture transformed the industrial zone into a creative and cultural hub through its first artistic project called “From Within”.
This initiative showcases work from more than 27 artists from across the Arab world - including Saudi Arabia. Its aim is to highlight how architecture impacts social behaviors and urban spaces themselves influence human emotions.
